Why do it?

A pet hate of mine extends further than the traditional “biting of nails” or “not taking shoes off before entering the house” rather it is the novelty that media takes in adulterating children tv shows, and tv characters.

Take the Bert and Ernie example for instance, apparently they are the closeted Gay couple on Sesame Street, and yes, the basic facts would allude to this- if you were 15 and over. Kids that age would not, and should not have to see two puppets this way, after all, doesn’t this contradict the desire to not let children grow up too quickly?

I’m not say that children shouldn’t be aware of the diversity in culture and relationships but unless this is outlined from the beginning, interpretations from the media and older audiences should keep their traps shut.

I wonder why people go out of their way and proclaim that a Teletubbie is homosexual, or other children’s shows have implicitly taught kids to swear.  Is it boredom or an epiphany to add to an already full cup?

It is not that doing these actions would open a Pandora’s box, rather, it adds emphasis where it is unwarranted.
