The Vibe around the Office is...

The US version of the British The Office has spanned eight seasons and major change in a central role.

Normally, the departure of a central character such as Michael Scott (portrayed by Steve Carell) would spell the end- and not the reincarnation of a program. Like the humour of the program, this move manages to surprise.

After a series of stunt casting that included the likes of Will Ferrell and Jim Carrey the new regional manager was revealed and to most, it was a surprise. The choice was the endlessly needy but oddly endearing Andy Bernard (portrayed by The Hangover’s Ed Helms).

While the choice was met with criticism, I see nothing wrong with the change and while initially apprehensive , I find it hard to watch the preceding episodes with Carell in them as the vibe is totally different in the eighth season as opposed to th previous seasons.

And that is not such a bad thing.
