In Australia, the month of January means two things; the perfect time to hold a Barbie and to have a beer, but it also means to watch the tennis.
With there being a few pre Grand Slam tournaments fluttering around in the Asia Pacific, it all leads up to the grand daddy; in other words, the Australian Open.
It is a tournament filled with as much colour on the court as in the crowd, and no, it is not uncommon to notice a few watermelon helmets spectating on.
The Open is all good fun, and in high spirits, it is a lively event that has thrills of tennis with the background of old fashioned sideshows to entertain.
I’m looking forward to a summer of tennis, the feeling of retreating into the air conditioned home, watching a match that might be an upset or not, as well as gulping down the cold drink in front of you.
Yep, from the couch, that is the summer of tennis.
