The Rise to nostalgia

Today, we are a society with an insatiable appetite for virtual apples (not literal according to Obesity statistics) but with this craving for the new, we still like watching the old.

Why else would we still discuss and watch the films from the Golden Age of Hollywood?

Why else is there such a market for period drama, and 1950’s based shows with as much sex as sexism?

This could be seen to the Mad Men effect since its rise a few years ago we have Downtown Abbey, Pan Am, the axed Playboy Mansion amidst an array of others being currently filmed or pitched for the upcoming pilot season in the US.

What drives this feeling for nostalgia in the movies and tv despite our desire to watch them on the biggest, the best and latest tv’s and portable devices?
