Pablo Picasso, with his abstract but symbolically charged artworks have puzzled the minds and stretched the arty tastebuds until they have become worn.
But Picasso is much like food over the world; being vegetarian mightn’t suit everyone nor does everyone love salmon. Some gentlemen might prefer the romantic blonde as opposed to the eccentric brunette (or more likely, redhead?).
With the Picasso exhibit in Sydney at the moment, I wonder how many people will see it, and how many will truly want to see it?
Even though Picasso, and many other artists have passed on (may they rest in peace) their names have become symbols in themselves; not just for their genre of art but as ways to improve someone’s reputation.
Picasso then, is like food because eating caviar will give a different impression than a meat pie and visiting his exhibit will elicit a different impression than visiting the street art down at Hosier Lane in Melbourne.
