Not so easy

It seems that in tennis, what could easily be a three set victory is spun out to another epic five set match that collides with the clock ticking over to midnight.

This is done no more frequently than by Australian player and former World No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt.

By no means do intend to offend, rather point out that in most matches, his playing style; initially aggressive and affronting to the opponent still warming up is as regular as the cycle of the moon. Often he will have bursts of power and dominance only for this to falter and for the match to extend into the early hours of the morning.

Perhaps this due to the way he was trained, to a belief that success came from a hard earned win (while this is true, I’d think that you’d take the easy win and conserve the energy when you can).

Hewitt is a remarkable player of tennis, taking the number one ranking as the youngest player to do so. He too is a surety for an enthralling match of tennis, there is no doubt about that.

But what I often wonder about Hewitt is the five setter worth taking when more and more it seems like a fickle choice to place oneself in?
