Stop to smell the roses

Too often this phrase is said, and too often it is referring to a metaphorical meaning of enjoying life, however, I pose to you, just as much as we should enjoy life, why shouldn’t we literally stop and smell the roses?

I am no expert in the lands of botany, but am a mere admirer, the difference in scents between the various colours that bunched together make a kaleidoscope.

From the deep red rose, that borders on a velvety burgundy it seems sensual and perhaps a little sexual while the whimsical pink smells girly, innocent and light upon the senses.

When have you last stopped to (literally) smell the roses?
