In the first season of the show, guest stars were limited and rarely high profile and mainstream celebrities.
However, come the second season and not only was there Britney; there was also Neil Patrick Harris as well as John Stamos just to name a few.
The second season, while enjoyed by all was panned to some extent because it had too much of a focus on more and more celebs doing a stint on the glee stage.
So when the third season came around, it was proclaimed by the creators that it would be truly focused on the characters.
However the allure to avoid the golden glow of Hollywood’s input was far too much with confirmation that Gloria Estefan will step in to play Santana’s Mother in the coming episodes, as well as rumours flying that Ricky Martin of “she bangs” fame will be playing a devilishly sexy Spanish teacher.
The third season has been enjoyable, but there have been some evolutions that have changed the characters; for one, Tina Cohen Chang is more retro than goth and long gone are the animal sweaters of Rachel Berry.
So I ponder, is the show losing its way in terms of characters, and will stunt casting of Estefan and Martin help find its way?
