Edward Cullen, go roll in your bed-less bedroom!
As a crop of bloodsucking new programmes hit the airwaves
there is one that has me hooked, and that is Vampire Diaries.
The actors are a salad full of sexy with a topping of
supernatural dressing.
The story revolved around Elena whose parents die months
before the story begins. The town where she lives, Mystic Falls lives up to its
name, her best friend is a witch that through the seasons becomes more
confident in her ability, a sentiment to us mere mortals to take into account.
However with all good vampire shows there is, of course a
vampire, or two.
This introduces the Salvatore brothers; Damon and Stefan, from the 1800's.
At the pilot, Damon is the first we see, or presume to see
considering Stefan has taken the queue from the Cullen’s and has a vegetarian
diet.
Both of whom are extremely
good looking ladies.
As the show gears up for its third season in less than a few
weeks, it is plain to see that the show stands above Twilight.
For one, when Elena inevitably finds out about Stefan’s nonexistent
humanity she screams and runs, showing visible (and understandable) fear unlike
the Ms Bella Swan who says she is “not afraid” with so much bravado you have to
wonder how much
Kristen Stewart is really getting paid to play the pathetic
character.
There is a sense of reality in Vampire diaries, displaying
what vampires do best, look incredibly sexy and suck the blood from us humans, not censoring it from the audience, making the vampires seem clean in their killings.
Another aspect to the TV series is how they shed light on the vamps, showing them as impulsive, non sparkling, and actually dangerous. Not that Twilight would show you that.
While I cringe through Twilight, (I can sit through it, the
same way I want a needle, sometimes I will... If I have to!) but with TVD as it
commonly shortened to if I have the onset of a cringe... the eye candy sweetens
the deal until you become connected to the characters, I’ve even shed a tear or
two!
While Kristen Stewart plays the bratty and irrational Bella
I find that Nina Dobrev is not only prettier than Stewart but a better actress
of a girl finding herself in the illogical situation of being in love with
multiple vampires.
So while you can watch Twilight all you want, the sultry,
the sexy and alluring scent that comes from the Vampire Diaries camps is far
stronger.
So get your swoon on girls for the third season of the
Vampire Diaries!
