Friendship groups are like a mixed bag of jellybeans; there
are the universally liked ones but also the one person who that group likes but
you just can’t figure it out (is it because they are black.... a jellybean I mean?)
But this is not where the dynamics end, after sitting in the
bus stops at High School, sitting and observing and then coming to university one
begins to get pretty good at seeing a consistency in groups.
So the pretty friend theorem is what I’ve concluded. What does
it mean? In most cases there will be one girl who has an uglier, less pretty
friend.
I know I sound harsh but tell me you don’t judge people by
their clothing, by their hair and their makeup, and if you don’t (which is
likely not the case) then you can prove me wrong.
So there I was, sitting at the bus stop and I see not one
group, not two or three but plenty and all held the same rule; one friend is
prettier to the other, but this doesn’t deter them to dress like clones, even
it is unflattering (shakes head) but that is another story entirely.
Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, as there with
anything anyone concludes.
It’s not a theory that sticks to high school life, no siree,
it also applies to University and the best place to observe is the lecture
theatre when people walk in (not when everyone is seated, unless you wanted to
be considered a stalker and blacklisted but hey, out casting is cool, right?).
Girls walk in, in their groups and there is the stunning one
but then the others follow one or two steps behind, all wearing similar
clothing (read: tights as pants) but nowhere as pretty.
I admit that I don’t have all the answers, but readers, what
do you think ,why is there always seeming to be one prettier friend than the
other?
