In the 50’s it was commonplace for paper to be a bag, not
for printers and the like, from the eighties and onwards it has been plastic
fantastic all the way.
However in the noughties and now the second decade on the
millennia we’ve become enviro-nuts, to the point there are no qualms about
recycling, in fact it is a stigma if you don’t.
So welcome the new breed of bag, the sexy and recyclable
calico.
The ACT government recently announced that from November 1
this year most outlets in the territory will not be using plastic bags.
Yes that’s right ladies; if you are forgettable then this
will be the time making you less forgettable about your less than plastic bags.
To be honest with you all it’s a great initiative, one that
takes being environmentally conscious (and rightly so) to a new level.
So instead of plastic bags we now buy paper and calico bags,
the revenue as far as I believe going to the shops.
But perhaps we could take it a step further? The money made
from the purchase of calico
bags and all that jazz goes towards climate change
research or to assist in making Australia eco-friendly?
It’s not a crazy idea.
What are your thoughts?
