There is one thing that I fail to understand when it comes
to TV and no, it’s not the relationship between Bert and Ernie, but rather how
a show I know plenty of people watch, is found to be so terrible in the
ratings.
To say that Hamish and Andy’s Gap Year has fallen from
ratings each week, is an understatement, the sizeable drop from the first week
to the second week that the show aired is meteoric. Heck, it makes the shoe
size (and other parts) of a basketball player seem small.
The premise was simple, a televised radio show with affable
Hamish Blake and dashing Andy Lee (a onetime Cleo bachelor of the Year, ladies)
in New York doing simply random shenagins.
As a self confessed Hamish and Andy fan I fail to see why
the larrikins did not catch on, sure the first episode stunk, really, really
bad, but once they got into the swing of things, by showing more of their
antics than their awkward presenting skills (they might be men, but presenting
on TV is a tad pre-pubescent).
Things picked up (except of Andy in the segment Ultimate
Wingman) but apparently the ratings did not.
Why?
I have no clue! And it is infuriating, they had decent
guests, comedy routines (pre-recorded) that made a smile turn into a laugh, and
then into a concern of regular breathing patterns.
Out of the two men, Hamish, as everyone (should) know is the
funnier one, whereas Andy seems to be the lead to the Hamish balloon.
Maybe he should try a serious role? Hamish went off on his
own earlier this year?
Thursday night is the final episode of the Gap Year so
please watch if it you can readers, it airs on channel 9 at 8:30pm!!!
P.S Ladies, get on this! Watch the programme and find
yourself a new fantasy, especially for those
nights when he’s drunk and reaching the summit is as hard as climbing Everest. Enjoy
;)
