The 18/19 Conundrum

Being 18 is a landmark in every teen’s life; for starters you get to drink (legally), drive and vote.

But maybe it’s placing a little too much power to kids that are generally still ignorant and arrogant that they are invincible (and yes, I am referring to females as well).

While the vote should be kept at the age of 18, the binary opposites of drinking and driving need to be separated.

One should drive and get their P’s at age 18 but the legal drinking age should be brought up to age 19.

Why?

Well I think there needs to be a gap between the two things that are so destructive, and its only a year so I don’t know why people would complain about it anyway.

It allows the young driver to adjust to a life of solo driving, without the pressure of drinking and all that jazz.

It allows the individual to get used to driving and become more emotionally mature about that and the bottle before they get their hands actually onto it.

So perhaps the 18/19 conundrum isn’t that at all, it’s quite simple; put a yearlong wedge between drinking and driving and maybe, just maybe there might be a difference made.
