As in life, we, the people have standards; who we date, what
we drink, what position of sex we like the most but through all of this, we
also tend to like certain brands of food and stay loyal to them.
Probably the most monogamous thing about humans, not too
much of a surprise though.
I understand that food snobs have to exist, particularly for
those who have allergies or intolerances (does that mean I could be a people
snob then? Only joking) but for the rest of us, it’s just being fussy.
The same old comment “I didn’t like that food and that’s why
I don’t buy it” is more worn down than my favourite pair of shoes, and while
that may be a true statement, I never like dim sims but apparently there is
truth to the old adage “try and try again”.
It is not just food
it is more the branding, and how we are identified, buy goon and you are one of
either a) a university student or b) not that cultured and if you buy homebrand
foods well you are budget conscious, again leading to being a student.
Not all of my food is white labelled and the cheapest I could
buy, however for that week of shopping, it was.
And let’s be honest when I have homebrand pasta from Woolworths
the only difference that I notice is not enough cheese or pasta sauce.
We complain EVERY WEEK that the shopping bills are going up
but move with the times people, go low and get more, homebrand is not something
to hide in the corner as a part of your food for a rainy day, it tastes GOOD,
not substandard.
As a generic label food consumer, I am as out and proud as
they come, heck I might give Elton John a run for his money.
