What do Cheese, Chocolate and Caramel all have in common?
Apart from the fact they’re all so indulgent, they are bases
for fondue.
Yes, Fondue has made like Madonna and come back in a big
way, though Fondue IS NOT mutton dressed in lamb.
It was once seen as the daggy activity of the 70’s probably
something all your parents partook in.
But I digress.
I always found that with fondue there was always too much chocolate
left behind (however, if you want to, put in a bowl and keep it in the fridge
overnight or until it hardens... it’s delicious and, could very well put
Cadbury out of business).
That was until I found what I like to call “Fondue in a cup”
provided by Coles in White and Dark Chocolate and Caramel.
Retailing at 1.99 it is, for want of a better word the bomb!
I’ve tried the dark chocolate dip with strawberries while
watching Wimbledon back in June and normally with foods I will get over them
quickly, like a child with a new toy but alas this “fondue in a cup” stands on
its own.
It is a rich flavour that combines with sweetness with the
strawberries providing for a climatic experience of flavour. Who needs sex when
you have chocolate strawberries?
And the best part? When you finish all the strawberries and
there is chocolate left over, use it on ice-cream or chocolate ripple cake, it
adds a little flair that makes traditional chocolate topping something to turn
your nose up at.
This Coles chocolate dip is inexpensive and with the price
of strawberries it is a cheap indulgence, cheaper than a pack of rubbers!
Once you try it, or at the very least in my case, you can’t
go back!
