Green-Edge are movin' on up

Australian cycling is on a bit of (natural) high at the moment.

Cadel Evans (Team BMC) has won the grandest tour of them all: Le Tour De France (and has become the first Aussie to do so) and compatriot Simon Gerrans of Team Sky has claimed the Tour of Denmark in the past few days.

Green-edge cycling, the Australian based team that is the first of its kind in the land down under is also taking form at a rapid pace, with signings of key riders, and sponsorship of clothing and bikes coming into the fold.

The old dog of Australian cycling Stuart O’Grady (formerly of Leopard-Trek) has signed the dotted line with the Australian team also signing young guns, brothers Cameron and Travis Meyer and Jack Bobridge.

For the cycling enthusiasts out there, it is an exciting time, to have a team coming through the ranks and will feature in some of the most famous races to date including Le Tour de France

As more John Hancock’s (signatures) will be put to paper in the coming weeks, it provides more excitement than AFL trade week, or watching a raunchy movie (actually... I reverse that statement).

So who else should be on cycling’s newest team? My bet is that they should lure Mark Renshaw of HTC Highroad which is to disband at the end of the season.

If Renshaw were to sign it would add another set of both formidable legs and experience to the squad.

And for the fashionistas out there, how should the ‘edge wear their green and gold on
their jersey’s?

opinions?
