Why a phase out is not a cop out when it comes to fake tan

In three years, a few things might have changed in Australia but perhaps one of the more significant (and foreseeable) changes is the end to Solariums being in used in the state of New South Wales.

The changes, as introduced by the New South Wales government will mean that Solarium use will be phased out.

To be honest, this is a smarter move than immediately banning them as has been suggested by both the Opposition and Greens parties.

Don’t get me wrong, if we lived in a perfect world then this would be able to occur (to ban these pieces of equipment immediately) however, we do not and taking the longer road is easier and perhaps find something closer to the middle road.

The benefits that come with phasing emerge from the fact it allows businesses that had invested plenty of dosh into them (I’m sure that Solariums do not come cheaply)to readjust and hopefully, allow them to profit despite the loss of the solarium.

The second benefit is the fact that solariums which damage our skin, will still be gone (albeit in one state, but perhaps a trend will eventually catch on).
