Journalism; Charting it

Journalism is a fluid concept that changes to match the beat of the cultural, social, economic and political as well as technological drum.

However, how many times should charting the rise, the fall and the ups and downs in between, be the role of the academics and bloggers?

And how critically should we go?

After the News of the World incident, Wiki-Leaks and Twitter are the newest pieces to a puzzle constantly growing, and constantly changing its scene.

Journalism, after these debacles is coming into an age where it is closely monitored, but I feel that it too is at a point where surveillance is only done on the media when it suits the powers that be.
