To say that JRR Tolkien’s series of the Lord of the Rings as well as The Hobbit are not that popular is well and truly a gross understatement.
Only a couple of weeks ago, there were auditions in New Zealand (where both parts of the Hobbit film are being shot) for extras to be in the film.
The amount of people expected to turn up was 3000 but 8000 did so, it caused only a few to auditioned and the rest shunned away.
Honestly, I wonder if the crew really underestimated, or was this another bid to subliminal publicity (related to the movie, but not explicitly; like a trailer) because it is not the first time that director Peter Jackson has used alternative (and effective) means to promote The Hobbit.
What do you think?
