The return of Figgins, Sue’s bid for motherhood and the appearance of THE Ricky Martin made tonight’s episode of Glee a highlight for this blogger, and hungrier than Duran
Duran to see more than they were for the wolf.
Beginning with the small appearance of Principal Figgins (love that guy!) the show was already scripted into my good books from the beginning.
Tonight’s show dealt brilliantly with two storylines at once- the future for many of the Glee members; whether it be romantic or collegiate as well as Will Schuester coming to his own realisations.
In amongst the mix of this seriousness was Sue waging a war with the body clock in determination to have a child. I won’t pretend that I was not a part of the collective gasp
when that pom pom fell to the ground, however the reasoning behind it that bubbled along nicely in the hourly slot made it seem less than bizarre and more along the lines of intriguing.
But I suppose what you are eager to hear from the Daily Red is the appearance of Ricky Martin (of La Vida Loca and She Bangs fame) and how he fared amidst the all singing school.
Like John Stamos, Martin fits incredibly well into the formulae of Glee if not a little better. Martin plays David Martinez, a night college teacher with a desire to teach in the bright lights of daytime (wondered how much he thought about that when he flossed for Sensodyne?).
When Martin entered the Glee room the reactions were priceless- the highlights there were Chris Colfer’s Kurt and Vanessa Lengie’s Sugar Motta.
The episode had subtitles to boot with the theme of the show being Latino, as always, the performances were impeccable by Martin shone in his two songs as did the reincarnation of Elvis’ A Little Less Conversation.
The episode, as they say, was Muy Bien!
