A Pendulum Swinging Match

The Australian Open is just around the corner, and despite the assumption that the lead up tournaments are mere practice (to some extent, they are) there are still good games to be had.

The match in question was between the uber hot Ana Ivanovic and Kim Clijsters.

My bet, from previous performances was on Clijsters all the way, but with the events of the night, it had me somewhat tense ridden.

The beginning of the match was filled with excitement, hoping that I was indeed right in my selection, and initially so, it felt like I was. Winning the set 6-1, Clijsters was both
flawless as she was formidable. There was no way that she could turn back, thus, I assumed it could a reasonable hour to sojourn to bed.

As opposed to my assumptions it was Ivanovic who on the “kick-ass bandwagon” and claimed the second set in an ironic 6-1, but this time, leaning her way.

As it came down to the third set, the momentum shifted like an erratic pendulum, throughout the second, it was Ivanovic who led the way and Clijsters running to keep up despite glimmers of her first set sexiness.

The third set swang right into Ana’s tanned arms, and up until the break at 3 -0 to go to 4-0, it was hers for the taking. Alas, the game was won by Clijsters which set off one helluva determining set.

As the action heated up and the rapidity of furious cross court rallies ensued it could have went either way, but when push came to shove,, Kim Clijsters had lady luck and an opportune lack of unforced errors on her side.

Throughout the game, the momentum pulled and tugged, straining the excitement levels or optimism for a comeback but what a game!
