Food over the years has come in and out of fashion; in and out of Heart Tick endorsement while their industry had slumped, but now there is a shift to accommodate vegetarianism and veganism.
Back in my day, being a vegetarian at primary school was something that meant you were really healthy- but a little odd too. Today, being vegetarian seems a little eclectic and like admiring that indie band or niche genre of music; it might even be a little cool (depending on where you live).
While going green through our eating habits is not anything new (the true Herbivores beat us before we arrived in heels) today there is driving attraction from both being healthier but also respecting the planet earth.
Today being green no longer means a diet of rice, pasta and scrupulously reading labels to check that there is not meat (well, not as often), the choice is far larger than it has been and it means being a vegetarian is now a choice, and not a guilt trip of temptation from something stronger than a snake in an apple tree; family.
