...And another one gone

Finding a film camera today is as difficult as finding someone without a mobile phone in their pocket, or their bag.

Today it was announced that iconic film company Kodak Photography had filed for bankruptcy after filing to keep up with the digital market and age.

Eventually this was going to happen, after all in the 21st century, who was gong to keep the darkroom as just that? Why not turn it into something grander, somewhere to place that third plasma TV to be precise.

Film photography to me will always be the light and pinnacle of photography, for while digital is popular, and some damn good shots can come from a DSLR, the process into developing a film and ensuring that each negative has the right exposure distinguishes digital and film into different divisions; film being in the art section.

It is odd to consider such an iconic, perhaps even institutional brand of photography aspect as dissolving because it could no longer keep up with the appetite for fast, fleeting and spectacularly quick images to be seen as art.
