Fighting Fire with Ire

Will Andre Greipel be the solution to Cavendish’s hot streak?

Since Chateauroux 2008 Mark Cavendish has become a man on a mission, a sprinter notching up stage wins faster than and a quickie in the bathroom.

For a while it has seemed that Cavendish along with his squad which have now parted ways due to Sponsors withdrawing their support of the team.

In 2012 it seems that without the concentration of the best lead out in the cycling world that this will broaden the chances for other sprinters to get a look in on the prize of a stage win, and yes possibly the grand daddy that is the green jersey.

One strong contender to the Cavendish Crown is Andre Greipel of the Lotto squad.
While the pair has a history (Greipel used to be on the HTC squad with Cavendish but moved in order to attain more selection for races).

As seen on cycling biggest platform last year (Le Tour de France) Greipel was able to use his power, and put the pedal to the metal to steal a likely win away from the man from the Isle of Man.

This year, Greipel has begun the year well winning a few stages in the Santos Tour Down Under, it will be exciting come July to consider the chance that Cavendish might have a legitimate, and fighting fit opponent to do battle in that last kilometre or so.

Bring on Le Tour!
