As is the time of year, TV shows roll away from storylines and deliver us Christmas specials.
Such is the way with Glee, with the third season special as festive as it could possibly go.
With Artie’s vision combining wholesomeness, and sci –fi actualised, the episode commenced with a tree being decorated in the Glee room and then a proliferation of Christmas music for the entire45 minutes.
I have to say, I was relatively disappointed in the show with far too much sugar to handle, the eternal optimism of the characters involved could be likened to the experience of smearing Vaseline onto your teeth in order to the biggest ratings, that is, it hurts after a while.
The show was oh so sweet, containing more songs and sweetness than a couple of candy canes.
The episode also felt like a mere promotion and plugging resource for the Glee Christmas Album (which in itself is a decent track list).
Another factor that irritated me as well was the increasing cartoon actions of the one, the only, Rachel Berry. While I was a fan at first, her character has become both fussy and far too fashionable to how she was once described. This change in the Berry character came to a head in the Christmas episode.
