Here’s a curveball to throw at you guys.
With the recent release of the late Amy Winehouse’s album, it got me thinking; is this done out of respect for the artist, and or what they were, or does it have an ulterior... money making motive for the executives.
As much as I’d like to say that it is out of respect for the artist (to which I strongly see that it should) I see that this is a “cashing in” of sorts. For at no time, unfortunately, is the person more infamous than when they have passed, for after all the interest from the public has peaked.
To which extent I’d say that this is both the people and the exec’s fault.
Don’t get me wrong, respect should be paid to these artists, but when the royalties say are not directed at a charity or children etc. Then I see these actions as relatively negative, perhaps bordering on disgusting.
The left and the right sides of the brain may be opposites but it too seems that the same applies to moneymaking and respect.
What do you think?
