The Monopoly of Monopoly

Once a game of buying Mayfair Avenue and tokens of a car, the game Monopoly has transcended its original versions, better known now for its modern or pop culture incarnations.

Some of the more loved versions would have to be Disney Monopoly where the tokens range from Snow White to Dumbo and the cards feature the most famous icon of all; Mickey Mouse!  The game basically has you buying different movies, though the original edition of the Disney Monopoly saw you buy famous locations from the movies (i.e. Pride Rock, Tarzan’s Jungle Hut and so forth).

Other versions of Monopoly to come out of the company have included Pokémon, an Australian edition, A Horse Lover’s version, as well as so many more.

It seems that to have the status of being a pop culture icon, a symbol of that is to be monopolised, because, if you look at it, all the popular shows and things of our time, whether it be lightsaber’s or a saddle are turned into the game so as to ensure that the game appeals to all.

I wonder when the original Monopoly will stand up again?
