Celebrity Weddings; Skewed or Normal?

Another day, another divorcee

As another day passes in the modern day bright lights of Hollywood, it seems that perhaps the lights are so bright that they skew even the foundations of what is a universal tradition; marriage.

In the land of angels, it must run on a different time zone, one where 8 years (and it is) considered a long time, if not rare amount to be wedded to the same person.

The subject of this post comes from the news (or old news to all you gossip mongers out there) that reality starlet Kim Kardashian has divorced her husband or 72 hours, oops, I mean 72 days, she cited the buzzword of divorce documents “irreconcilable differences”.

And Kim is not the only celebrity to throw marriage down the drain, heck, there might even be an encyclopaedia around here.

But who am I to judge? Who am I to criticise these people when the story is not fully disclosed for the sake of tabloids getting juicy headlines, and stories that elicit more drama than an episode of Days of our Lives?

But what it does seem to me is that in this land, where the term “cheap” is in an entirely different stratosphere than what you and, I the university students, can or could relate to, that the idea of weddings and marriage all relate, as if it were funnel, to the concept of showbiz.

Perhaps the proliferation of reality programmes and tabloid media is to blame, but then again, it could be that that the land of the stars, of (generally) size O and of Rodeo Drive is merely different?

What do you all think?
