Modern Cooking; As easy as getting it out of the packet

It’s a blissful Sunday afternoon and the mood to bake is strong.

You walk to the cupboard but alas the boxes of cake or cookie mixes have disappeared.

At this point, many of you will end your baking dreams, and Sunday will be spent at the front of the TV, not an oven.

It seems to be a long forgotten fact that a cake, cookies or cupcakes can be made from scratch. It seems that in a modern world of stainless steel and internet on your fridge, cooking skills go from tasty to merely convenient.

There is such a reliance on using packet mixes, its normal now, when a friend is over, bam! Rip out the cake mix, but whatever happened to pouring and sifting flours and butters.

I suppose cooking is going in the same vein that art has. Once, we painted and now we use digital photography, both suffice the hungry beast but what is more fun, I ponder?
