Tuning into the pre-show celebrations of the AFL grand final
between Geelong and Collingwood has shown me one thing.
How one singer can simply ruin the national anthem, look, I
admire and like Vanessa Amorosi’s music however her rendition and appearance in
singing the anthem , I was appalled.
Showing up in a mullet dress (short at the front, and long
at the back) that was all tulle and not tasteful, Amorosi looked more like
going out to the Aria Awards rather than honouring our anthem.
In my opinion, I think that it was distasteful in the clothing
and in the singing, by changing pitch to make the song more pop, than Britney Spears
album.
The dress was obviously used to draw attention to her radioactively
red hair (which if she was wearing something more conservative, I’d be fine
with it) but the outfit was used to draw attention which to me doesn’t appreciate
the anthem, heck I’d even go so far as saying the AFL have caved more into commercial
gimmicks over honouring the anthem.
Perhaps the song should overpower the look and the style of
the singer?
What did you; the readers think of Vanessa Amorosi’s rendition
and look for singing the national anthem of “Advance Australia Fair”?
