Tony Martin, The Conqueror

The illustrious reign of Fabian Cancellara has ended at the hands of 26 year old German Tony Martin yesterday, who scorched the time trialling track to flames.

Martin, who has now won his first Rainbow Jersey in the Elite mens Time Trialling division, ending the sexy Swiss Cancellara’s (sorry Roger) four year reign.

It has been Martin’s season really, claiming some very important time trials during the season and notching up a couple of grand Tour Time trials as well.

Cancellara, took to twitter to congratulate the new World Champion and admit that it was not his best day on the saddle of those very small, but very expensive bikes.

And for the Aussie supporters out there, good news for our boys Jack Bobridge and Richie Porte.

Bobridge, in his first elite mens Time Trial placed a delightful fifth 9not too shabby I say!)

While Porte claimed sixth position.

So as King Cancellara has been dethroned, just as quickly we see the ascension of one Tony Martin.

Makes the next few TT’s interesting between these pro’s at the sport.

Bring it!
