The great thing about tennis is
the redeeming quality it can have.
Though, it can the other way as well.
Our Aussie tennis player Sam Stosur a few years back played
in the French Open final, her first Grand Slam final to which she ended up
losing after a brave effort to even get to the final ladies match of that year’s
Grand Slam in France.
And after a lacklustre showing at Wimbledon this year we
hope, that times might have changed.
Preparing to compete in a semi final at the US Open Sam will
have the eyes of Australia (and the loyal boxing kangaroo) watching her
hopefully go all the way and taste victory she has rightfully earned.
If there was a comparison to be made, then Sam Stosur is the
Cadel Evans of her division, female and a tennis player that is.
After near misses and being relatively consistent his could
be a time to shine, not o get ahead of myself but her biggest threat awaits her
if she ends up in the final.
Two words; Serena Williams.
William’s sheer power is frightening and awesome to watch so
on the lighter side at least it could be a tantalising match up of a final if
Sam is on her A-game, which at this point in time would have to be a necessity,
not a choice.
So as the semi’s heat up, here’s hoping for our Aussie lass
to make like Evans and win what she has been chasing for quite some time.
