If chocolate is not one of the most decadent experiences our
tastebuds can have, then I don’t what is.
Chocolate, to me at least have three main flavours; white,
milk and dark, and flavours such as peppermint are interspersed in the chocolate
itself as a filling.
If we talk about chocolate on the same level as wine, in a
way it is, for it has a growing market of gourmet-ness about it, then the dark
chocolate is the vintage red, and if it has 70% cocoa well then it has an
acquired taste. Once, I recall my curiosity got the better of me and so I nibbled
a little of Lindt’s DARK chocolate (this stuff was seriously dark, like almost
black). For the very least the taste was intense, and in the same way I dislike
coffee, that chocolate went straight to disposal.
But I digress.
So we’ve sorted out that dark chocolate is the fine wine of
the chocolate threesome. So what about milk? A step lower (or several steps,
actually) is milk, needless to say it has a creamy taste, blending milk and
cocoa and Cadbury is the most famous to boast milk chocolate to its repertoire.
This type of chocolate is the universal love, like every woman agrees (or a
general consensus) that George Clooney is a silver fox, getting better with
age.
The final of the chocolates is what I prefer; white
chocolate. Completely milk, it is rich and indulgent in flavour, making it even
better for the weight conscious..., I hear you ask? Well you can’t eat too much
of the stuff, unless your into inflicting your body with a sickly sweetness but
let me tell you, your stomach doesn’t have to use twitter to revolt against that choice of yours to eat too much of
the white stuff. Essentially the main
reason I like white is that not a block can be eaten while watching a film but
it also does taste great, in small quantities of course.
One thing I’d like to try and I’m sure chocolatier’s out
there have, is play host to a chocolate Ménage a Trois. Now don’t get all
huffed and puffed on me, I’m not saying to have sex and involved chocolate that
way (but if you’re keen as mustard to do that ... I’m not stopping anyone)
rather I am saying mixing the different flavours of chocolate in the fondue
tin/chocolate fountain... imagine the pretty colours! As well as the taste...
just thinking about intrigues me, perhaps I will go and try this.
Next Thursday I will be reporting back to you dear readers
on how my chocolate Ménage a Trois fared. Stay tuned!
