Aussie cycling punches above its weight, and no less could
be expected of the new
Australian cycling outfit Green-edge that in the past
weeks as announced big name signings of Stuart O’Grady, Pieter Weening, the
Meyer Brothers, and others but yesterday announced they lured another big fish
in the cycling pond; Simon Gerrans.
Signing on for the 2012 season Gerrans is the first
Australian to have won a stage in all three of the grand tours, no easy feat
from what I can tell.
And ladies, he ain’t bad looking, so if you need any
incentive to start watching cycling, then here it is.
Waiting for the latest signings to be announced from the new
team to start next year is like a kid waiting for their birthday or more
significantly, Christmas and if they (GreenEdge cycling) continue to reel in
some big names, well it’s worth the wait then isn’t it?
With Gerrans comes his red hot form at the moment as well as
plenty of experience, so for the new team, having O’Grady and Gerrans leading
the charge will give Green-Edge definitely the chance to do, what the rest of Australian
cycling has done and Punch above its weight.
