We all like watching the square box but over the past few
months as the American television season took its summer break we were left
with a skeletal selection of Australian programmes where their quality
continues to be a toss-up.
So as September nears it means a few things for the land
down under; spring is here and again it’s socially acceptable to begin wearing
thongs to uni, and secondly that the American shows will return to our screens
(alternatively or otherwise).
What are some of the shows I’ve picked out as being the
ones to look forward the most to?
1) - Gossip Girl; heading into its fifth season, and
a cliff-hanger of a mystery pregnancy it will keep the teens and young female
adults excited but also hungry for answers while watching a show that often has
better fashion than storylines.
2) - Two and a Half Men; after Charlie “winning”
Sheen quit the program the search was onto find a replacement and in walked in
the comedically endearing and genetically blessed Ashton Kutcher who will play
the buyer of Charlie’s house. Ultimately it will be interesting to see if the
show can hold up without its key star over the years.
3) - Glee; after the sudden exit of Chord Overstreet
which leaves undeveloped storylines, it is also senior year for some of the
cast members meaning that they will not return for season four. The past two
seasons have been enjoyable (the first better than the second) so whether the
third can get out of its lull and properly say goodbye to some of the key stars
will be intriguing, but above to see if the “New Directions” can finally win
Nationals!
4) - Vampire Diaries; the tame version of True Blood,
brings its third season to the television and hints at the development of new
relationships between Tyler and Caroline (a werewolf and vampire respectively)
and between Elena and Damon, the brother of Stefan who is/was Elena’s
boyfriend. For the fans out there this season is shaping up to continue with
the same pace that made the past two seasons such a success.
These were the shows off the top of my head, so readers,
what shows are YOU looking forward to making a return?
