An Aussie in Spain, and what about their name?

As if Australian cycling needed anymore justification for its place in the predominantly European, but increasingly global, sport.

Australian Chris Sutton got his chance to shine in under the Spanish sun by winning the second stage of the final grand tour of the year; the Vuelta A Espana. Sutton won in a sprint stage, surprisingly not claimed by the Manx missile and  ruggedly good looking Brit Mark Cavendish.

With all these Aussies now swarming the peloton like green and gold bees, I wonder what we, the spectators call them? In America, the Aussie expats turned actors are called the “Gumleaf Mafia” so what about in cycling? Green-Edge is already taking?

Perhaps this question requires more thought, so I’ll leave it there.

Congratulations goes out to Team Sky and Chris Sutton for a great stage win, and to another Aussie imprinting on modern day cycling.

So what do you think readers, what should call our Aussie boys collectively in the peloton?
