John Lennon is quoted in his most famous song Imagine as singing that with peace, the
“world can live as one”.
While this song is enchantingly beautiful, the recent passing of North Korean leader Kim
Jong IL illustrates that the world as presented through the eye of the media at the very least, is not a united entity.
While in the past the press as described the leader in a negative view and this has forever been the image painted to the western consumer of all things in a news format, but this does not seem to fit too well with the images of people mourning and crying over their leader.
So I wonder what the effect of this misrepresentation is, but more importantly what the effect is on those who are aware of this double standard?
