The Best Toast

First thing to get clear is that I am not referring to the toasts held at weddings or at birthday parties about how time is going by faster than a cheetah to a gazelle.

Rather I am discussing the warm and crunchy bread that has melting butter or margarine soaking into, creating a flavour unmatched by all the decadent foods of the globe.

Whether it is vegemite or chocolate-y nutella tickling the tastebuds, toast is unrivalled in how it can be, in the words of Timon and Pumbaa, simple, yet satisfying.

And there is the bread, thick homemade is best, but thin can work just as well but a warm foccaccia in the morning can fill the stomach up.

But the best toast is when it is simple, when the hunger pang begins and the food taste so much better than if you are eating for the sake of eating.
