Levi Leipheimer has won the Tour of Colorado but, for our Australian
readers this is not the main story; Cadel Evans is.
After winning Le Tour De France after agonising years of
close calls and bad luck, the yellow is his and what follows with the winner is
obligation to do other races, hence, his participation in the Tour of Colorado
with his American based team BMC.
Expectedly everyone was just happy he won the Tour, he needn’t
prove anymore until next July and then the Olympics.
But alas Evans placed 7th overall, while competitors
Andy and Frank Schleck did not contend in the overall General Classification.
It is a sentiment to how lady luck but simple method of hard
work and belief can pay off into a flow on effect, first the tour, now this
positive result.
The man from Barwon Heads in Victoria seems shy, and humbled
by all this publicity and cheering from the crowds, but at the very least
unlike other riders, he is one man that purely and justly deserves every inch.
