Bloody oath, are you serious?

If you’re a fan of Top Gear then you’ll be in the know when it comes to there being an Australian version which has caused waves before the premiere of it’s second series tonight on channel nine. Why?

They (Shane Jacobson, Ewen Page and Steve Pizzati) reckon we should be doing 130km or so on interstate freeways. Why? Because it will combat fatigue.
All I see it combating is the side of the road, 130 km/h is not something I’d feel comfortable doing considering the road rate as it is.

The threesome all said that the interstate freeways were made for these speeds? Really because yesterday I drove from Victoria to the ACT and the roads were anything but an ideal match for speeds that high. The road surface was often loose in areas where stones flew up and in other parts the surface was so rough that I thought I might have had a flat tyre. Yeah, definitely the road for 130 kilometres or so.

At 100 k’s we have an enough accidents as it is with fatigue a key factor, add 30 clicks to that and you’ve got yourself a serving of disaster.

They say you’ll get there quicker (to the destination) true, but how would it stop fatigue? It is as inevitable as seeing police on the side of the road checking your speed.

Speeds on these highways need to stay the way that they are because let’s be honest 130 kilometre per hour, bloody oath, are you serious, on these highways?
